  • NOTES:

Stanley was a musician (violinist) and entertainer and in the 1950's worked in a double act; "Stan Van & Pat Gay(e)". At cinemas at this time, between the "B" film and the main feature they had live acts and I recall going to see a film with my dad at the East Ham Palace where, on this occasion, Stan and Pat appeared.
It was a real family event because in the orchestra pit was my Uncle Harry's father-in-law, Simon "Sidney" BELINFANTE, who was also a violinist.
During the winter, these artists would appear in pantomime at various theatres throughout the country and in the summer would play at seaside holiday resorts.
As a child I had a quarter size violin which went unused and was given to Stan for use in his performances.
I also remember him appearing in an episode of the BBC comedy series, "Are You Being Served".
In later life Stan joined the musical comedy group, "Nuts and Bolts".
