My earliest recollection of Cissie and Jay was when they lived in a flat in Clapton, London. They later moved to Gants Hill, Essex where they lived in Shere Road and then Parham Drive. They had a poodle named "Sooty" that my sister and I were allowed to take for walks.

Irving was another cousin who influenced me musically. He had a radiogram which, for the benefit of the younger generation, was a large peice of furniture containing a radio, a gramophone turn-table and a pair of speakers - the immediate forerunner of today's stereo system. The lid was controlled by a piston which allowed it to close with a gentle whoosh so as not to jog the needle (stylus to you). One of the records that I always asked him to play when we visited was "Ghost Riders in the Sky". Wikipedia says it was voted the best country music song ever!  Anyway that must have started me on to my love of country music. If I remember correctly he also had recordings of "The Mexican Hat Dance" and "La Cucaracha" .... oops, wrong country!
    He never married.
